China exported 0.38 million tonnes of coal in March this year, soaring 41.3% from the same month last year, the latest customs data showed.
This brought the total coal exports to 1.39 million tonnes in the first quarter of this year, up 57.5% against the same period of 2023.
In March, China exported 0.9 million tonnes of coke and semi-coke, up 26.3% year on year. Exports totaled 2.41 million tonnes in the first quarter, a 22.6% rise year on year.
In March, China exported 0.48 million tonnes of cement and clinker, marking a year-on-year growth of 46.7%. Cumulatively, from January to March, exports reached 1.13 million tonnes, up 58.0% compared to the same period last year.
In contrast, China's coal imports reached 41.38 million tonnes in March, up 0.5% year on year, while the total imports for the first quarter hit 115.9 million tonnes, a rise of 13.9% from the previous year.
